The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas is a major refresh to the VW SUV lineup with a slew of changes to the interior and exterior, technology, and engine.
Pablo Di Si, president and CEO of Volkswagen American gushed over the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas, adding: “Since its debut, it has become a major player in the U.S. market…The refreshed Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport continue to build on that success, with an elegant new interior and a sophisticated turbocharged engine that improves both performance and the driving experience.”
The Atlas is known for its generous interior space. It’s one of the largest SUVs in its class, offering ample room for passengers and cargo. And for 2024, the spacious interior of the SUV receives a major upgrade. Additionally, the new headlights and taillights modernize the exterior appearance. A Redesigned Interior
The seven-seater 2024 Atlas SUV is out of this world. It’s obvious that VW had one focus when redesigning the interior – making it your new comfort zone. The interior boasts significant upgrades: premium materials and standard high-end comfort features, including three-zone Climatronic®, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The interior upgrades are instantly noticeable. The materials used are far nicer than the previous years, with fewer hard plastics and more stitched leather bits and soft-touch materials on the dashboard. Additionally, upper trim levels have quilted leather upholstery. There is a wide range of trim options including wood, brushed metal, and carbon-fiber-look materials to enhance the textural quality of the door panels.
The enhanced technology in the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas further elevates your driving experience. An elegant focal point is the redesigned cockpit. Engine and Performance
The most notable change in the 2024 VW Atlas is the engine. The only available engine choice is a revised turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. The previous 3.6-liter VR6 is gone, and this new engine surpasses the outgoing base turbo four in power due to a larger turbocharger and refined tuning.
In 2024, the entire Atlas lineup will be powered with a four-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® engine, delivering 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. VW explains; “The new engine provides similar power to the outgoing VR6, a bump in torque—which is available over a broader rev range, improving drivability and acceleration—and is anticipated to provide improved fuel economy.”
The marque makes it clear that the towing capacity remains the same, at 5,000 pounds. Additionally, an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard in the model. Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system is available across the model lineup.
